Carbonana Castle, a private residence located just a few kilometers west of the ancient and picturesque town of Gubbio, is one of the most beautiful castles in Umbria and arguably one of the best restored in Italy. Its history, long and rich, traces back to at least before the end of the 12th century. The exact date of its founding is lost in time.
The fortress rises, visible from afar, majestic and impressive, nestled in the Appenine hills surrounding Gubbio and juts out onto the narrow valley of the Assino river which itself flows into the Tiber.
Like a proud knight riding on his steed, Carbonana Castle, holds watch from on high, enchantingly impregnable, dominating the road from Umbertide to Gubbio.
